Last one I'll be uploading for a bit as I don't want to throw everything up at once...
And now the character herself because every gal needs a Japanese-esque samurai character! This is Rin, my Yamahan (a.k.a. Japanese) sable/cat/osprey thingy. She's my first hybrid, so if she isn't exactly "mixed" enough, my bad. Her build is supposed to be mostly musteline with a feline face (and fur length) and osprey coloration.
Anyway, personality-wise, she's generally laid back with rare bouts of blood lust that kick in whenever her avian heritage takes over*. Being a yakuza, her morals are somewhat dubious, but she does have a soft spot for little sister/brother-type characters. Rin identifies as a mustelid and takes great offense if referred to as a feline.
Some other interesting facts: -That katana isn't just for show, Rin is accomplished with a sword having had over 100 years (she's 124) to perfect her skills*. -She's ambidextrous, though she favors her left hand -Her hat rarely comes off, even when it would be considered rude by Yamahan tradition to leave it on, she prefers her head be covered at all times -She is called Hanshi-san (from "han" for half and "shippo" for tail) by her henchmen (when out of earshot) due to her short tail when compared to her feline face -Her katana's name is Denkouissen; "Flash of Lightning"
*In Felia, the world that Rin is from, avians are particularly known for their wild tempers, their incredibly long life spans and their prowess with magic
I really do love this character you know, probably because it looks like you actually did some research into the names and history instead of doing what a lot of people do and just picking a random anime name out of a hat. That or you're very good at sounding really smart. Oh and the Yakuza helps a lot...
In all seriousness, I did research for Rin. The reason I created her character in the first place is because I was going on an Academic Travel to Japan, so the fact that I was already researching for that coupled with my love for Japanese manga, specifically the earlier chapters of Bleach and Little Pet Shop of Horrors, led to her creation. Her initial appearance and personality were actually heavily influenced by manga characters. Count D out of Little Pet Shop of Horrors and Uruhara Kisuke from Bleach are the ones that come to mind most easily. In all, Rin is a combination of research and fangirl love.
Your art was great the last time I saw it, but gosh it's just incredible now. Coloring, composition, drawing... everything is fantastic and so professional-looking. Nice job!

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
